Thomas (Tom) Lancelot Lewis AO was a New South Wales politician, Premier of New South Wales and Minister of the Crown in the cabinets of Sir Robert Askin and Sir Eric Willis. As lands minister, Tom Lewis was responsible for setting up the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in 1967. He established the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife in 1970 as the fundraising arm of the NPWS. Today, the Foundation is an a-political, independent conservation organisation that operates Australia-wide.

His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd)

General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC is the present Governor General of Australia since 2014, and a Knight in the Order of Australia. Peter Cosgrove graduated from the Royal Military College Duntroon in 1968, and after a distinguished military career he retired as Chief of the Australian Defence Force in 2005. Peter Cosgrove came to national attention in 1999 when, as Commander of the International Task Force East Timor (INTERFET), he was responsible for overseeing that country’s transition to independence.
