Places of colonial cultural heritage in Australia include buildings, industrial sites, townscapes, cemeteries, landscapes, heritage gardens, national parks and urban bushlands.

Objects of colonial and European cultural heritage in Australia include documents and records, art, personal objects, uniforms and so on.

Intangible facets of colonial cultural heritage include language, traditions, personal histories and more.

Along with Indigenous heritage, colonial heritage contributes to the Australian sense of place, community and idenity. It provides Australians with a sense of our nation's history and informs our ideas of national identity.
