Mark Adams & Lynnette Eggleston, 2010

Mark & Lynette managed their property with minimal interference since 2000 when it became part of a Voluntary Conservation Agreement. In 2010, their land was donated to the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife for protection in Australia's reserve system.

Property size: 16+ hectares

Property location: Far south coast of New South Wales

Property value: $50,000

Now protected in: South East Forest National Park

The property is within the Great Eastern Ranges, a landscape scale corridor to protect endangered and threatened species through connectivity of ecosystems.

By donating their land to the Foundation for inclusion in the National Reserve System of publically owned and perpetually protected land, Mark and Lynette helped protect many threatened species including the Yellow-bellied Glider, Glossy Black-Cockatoo, Spotted-tailed Quoll and Powerful Owl to persist on the site.

Mark Adams said he was incredibly happy with the process of donating land to the Foundation, and was very pleased with the tax benefits of donating his land as well. He would recommend anyone thinking of protecting their high conservation value land to contact the Foundation.

Valerie Lhuedé, 2011

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife worked with Valerie Lhuedé for five years to facilitate the donation of her property Yerranderie, which contains an old silver mining town, to the National Reserve System.

In 2011, the property was handed over to the National Parks & Wildlife Service for protection in perpetuity. Now its unique historical and ecological values will be conserved, and access for the public maintained for all time.

Property size: 467 hectares

Property location: West of Sydney, New South Wales

Property value: Over $950,000.00

Now protected as: Yerranderie State Conservation Area

Miss Lhuedé’s vision for Yerranderie’s future is simple. She wants the public to enjoy it and all it has to offer. “I’d like to see Yerranderie as the centre of a special tourist group and get young people out into the mountains especially,” she said. “I feel they should be given the chance to see the bush and feel the earth under their feet instead of concrete.”

Rawson Family, 2011

The Rawsons donated land in the Blue Mountains. As the land is not close to any state-managed national parks or reserves, it would have made an odd island if gifted to State conservation authorities. The Foundation facilitated its protection within Local level protected areas.

Property location: Blue Mountains, New South Wales

Property value: $20,000

Now protected as: Environmental Protection Open Space land under the Blue Mountains City Council.

The Foundation offers thanks to Catherine Rawson and Laurence browning Pty Ltd for their generous and valuable gift. This land donation will protect a priceless piece of Australia’s cultural and natural heritage, our native plants and animals, for present and future generations to enjoy.
