Remnants of Gondwana, edited by Roger Kitching, Richard Braithwaite and Janet Cavanaugh.

The Gondwana Rainforests Advisory Committees began producing an edited volume on the natural and social history of the rainforests included within the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. This publication was called 'Remnants of Gondwana: The Natural and Social History of the Gondwana Rainforests'.

Funds from councils and other local organisations assisted with meeting publication costs to make the final product available at an affordable price.

Funds were sought from councils and other organisations in the local area to assist with meeting publication costs, so that the final product could be sold at an affordable price.
With donations from the National Parks Association and the Warwick Shire Council, the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife was able to offer administrative support to this project.

The objective of the publication was to promote an improved awareness of the Gondwana Rainforests and its value to its visitors, local communities, catchment management authorities and councils.

The publication provides an authoritative yet approachable guide for the 'more serious' visitors to the Gondwana Rainforests properties. It also provides for those interested in rainforest natural history, Australian national parks and the history of the properties and their context in the broader environment. This book adds to the seminal work of Adam (1987) 'The NSW Rainforest: the nomination for the World Heritage list'.

This high quality book promotes the natural and cultural values of the northern NSW rainforest parks and reserves. It also promotes the sustainable use of the reserve system, and encouraged visitors to enjoy national parks with a minimal impact.
