Talking PAWS
by Hans Walloschek
Foundation Director

Hans WalloschekDear Parks and Wildlife Supporters,

I have the pleasure of introducing to you this double issue of PAWS, the newsletter of the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife in which we report of Quolls, Rufous scrub-birds, Koalas and Snails.

2005 promises to be another successful year of supporting those who are giving their time and energy to the cause of preserving and maintaining our environment. Thanks to the generosity of you, our supporters large and small, the Foundation has been able to

  • Look into purchasing substantial areas of land to enlarge our National Parks
  • Financially support projects protecting threatened species
  • Facilitate and contribute to the eradication of introduced pests threatening to destroy our native Flora and Fauna
  • Assist with the restoration and preservation of our national cultural heritage

It would be wrong, however, to see the Foundation merely as an organisation for the redistribution of funds. It is a body of committed volunteers, members, staff, trustees, all of whom are dedicated to the wellbeing of our environment, plants, animals and land.

And when we look forward to the months and years to come let us do so with a view to working for a future that we can preserve, maintain or enhance for the generations who are coming after us, for a country and environment as healthy and living species as diversified as we enjoy today.
