Lord
Howe Island Weeding Ecotours 2005
 |
|
Weeding
under Lord Howe’s Kentia Palms is a relaxing and rewarding
way to ‘own’ your piece of paradise.
|
Spend a week in paradise and help the Lord Howe
Island Board tackle Ground asparagus Asparagus aethiopicus
on Transit Hill.
Volunteers will receive a weeding kit and training
in bush regeneration from the Friends of LHI, who have been running
the tours since 1995. To date 410 volunteers have embarked on 30
weeding trips and spent 10,169 hours weeding under Lord Howe’s
Kentia Palms, achieving visible results.
You can join the volunteers weeding in a lovely
natural setting and spend the afternoons exploring the World Heritage
island’s tall rainforest, prolific birdlife, volcanic geology,
pristine marine life and stimulating scenery along the walking tracks.

Volunteers stay at ‘Pinetrees’ –
a wonderful old guesthouse with 100 years of experience in hospitality
and fine dining, famous for its fish fry night and red wine by the
boat shed.
Come and spend a week with a small group of like-minded
people, who are already hooked – many have come here six years
in a row. And when you leave, leave with a sense of ownership of
the part of Lord Howe where you have worked.
There are vacancies for July 23 to 30 and August
6 to 13. Cost is $1699.95 (twin share) for airfare, accommodation,
all walks and talks and all meals. To make a booking contact Ian
Hutton on 02 6563 2447 or email lhitours@bigpond.com
