PAWS
Thank you and all our donors who gave so generously to our birthday appeal raising more than $35,000 for our parks and wildlife. Over the years your donations have achieved astonishing results for the conservation of our natural and cultural heritage. In the “New Projects” section you will see that some of the birthday appeal funds have already been put to good use. Whenever the Foundation receives a so called untied donation that has not been given for any particular conservation project, our Projects Committee decides on the best way to use of these free funds for the cause. The committee receives many project applications, but only those that can generate a tangible conservation outcome on the ground, such as land acquisition or bush-regeneration are eligible for funding. Sometimes we receive calls for funding that are particularly urgent or far too substantial to be covered with our free funds, and this is where the projects committee may decide to run a major fundraising appeal. One of these was our recent campaign to purchase the wilderness icon Green Gully, and we are proud to announce that Green Gully has been purchased, and is now part of Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. Can we help you with information on the progress of any of our many other projects? Just email us or call Kim Barrett at the Foundation’s office on 02 9221 1949 for further updates on projects that are particularly important to you. Enjoy your Spring issue of PAWS,
