TALKING PAWS

Dear Parks and Wildlife Supporter,

It is not generally known that many of our State National Parks have pockets of privately owned land within them. An important activity of the Foundation is identifying the most critical of these privately owned tracts of land which often are central to the integrity of the Park itself. Integrating these tracts of land into their surrounding Park not only substantially improves management of the Park but ensures that the species within it, which is part of the rationale for having the Park in the first place, have the best chance for survival.

The Foundation sees the acquisition of land within Parks as an urgent task because with the passage of time , the chances of purchase and the price become more difficult let alone the possibility of future undesirable development.

The Foundation is currently acquiring a large important piece of land within the Morton National Park near Nowra which is financed by bequests.

Bequests are becoming an important element of our funding and their direction towards such lasting purposes as land acquisition is an appropriate application of such moneys.

If you are considering a bequest for conservation, contact Leonie Gale, our Executive Officer, for details and advice on the best conservation option for your personal legacy.

Director
