City2Surf participants have raised millions of dollars for charity in recent years. So far this year, runners have already raised more than $1 million.
To help make more of a difference to two charities, The Sim -Herald is donating a fantastic fund-raising prize - $10,000 for the chosen charity of the highest individual and team fund-raisers from this year's event.
Here is what some charities say $10,000 could do for them:
Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife; "Our organisation cares for Australia's natural and cultural heritage. We achieve this by buying land for conservation, funding threatened species' recovery actions and involving the community in the conservation of Australia's environment. The foundation is now helping marine life by buying marine fauna rescue kits. Funds of $10,000 would enable us to buy more of this necessary equipment for rescues of injured whales, dolphins, seals and turtles, while ensuring the safety of volunteers and personnel."
