2011 Private Land Conservation Grant Recipients

100x100PLCGRPrivate Land Conservation Grants support owners of covenanted properties to conduct habitat or species conservation projects on their property. This year more than $99,000 was awarded to 29 landholders with conservation agreements. See who recieved grants in 2011.

Conservationists today received Private Land Conservation Grants for outstanding conservation efforts on their properties.

“Each grant recipient's property is protected under a conservation agreement. The grants will help the recipients to realise their plans for conservation on their own properties,” said Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife Acting CEO Ms Susanna Bradshaw.

“The program acknowledges people who do conservation on their own land and supports them in their long term commitment to conservation,” said Paddy Pallin Foundation Trustee, Mr Robert Pallin.

“Conservation on private properties is extremely important because most of the land in Australia is privately owned,” said the Wildlife Land Trust’s Michael Kennedy. “The protection of Australia’s native animals in their natural habitat is of great benefit to future generations.”

“We are working in partnership with the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife, the Paddy Pallin Foundation, the Wildlife Land Trust, the Diversicon Environmental Foundation and the Nature Conservation Trust of NSW to offer the grants," said the Office of Environment and Heritage Conservation Partners Program Manager, Dr Lynn Webber. "These grants are an effective way of working with the community to care for Australia’s natural and cultural heritage.”

The Private Land Conservation Grants program has been offering grants to owners of covenanted properties since 2009.
