The Nunnock Swamp/Wilkinsons Trail in the South East Forests National Park contains significant swamp and grasslands that have been relatively undisturbed. The area has been widely used by Aboriginal people for thousands of years.

Prior to installation of new interpretive signage, trail use by visitors was haphazard and with poor interpretation. As a result, the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage cut back the trails in an effort to minimise the impact of visitors.

In 2008, the Foundation provided $24,100 to OEH for the installation of interpretive signage along the Nunnock Swamp and Wilkinsons Trail to educate visitors and raise awareness of the Nunnock Swamp precinct’s natural and cultural conservation significance. These signs will also help visitors to appreciate the history of the Indigenous people and European families that once occupied the area.
