With a donation from the Beswick Family Fund, the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife purchased the 56,294 hectare property 'Lysmoyle' for addition to Nombinnie Nature Reserve.
Over 90 species of birds live in the area.
The endemic Legless Lizard lives in Nombinnie Nature Reserve. Legless Lizards look like snakes but they have ears. If you look very closely, they also have limb flaps, and this is where their common name Scaly-foot comes from.
Nombinnie Nature Reserve protects habitat diversity, encourages the regeneration and protection of rare plants and animals, and allows for research and educational activities related to nature conservation to take place.
The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife is the only organisation in Australia whose philanthropy is an investment in our public estate, for all to enjoy.
