Willandra National Park is 726 km west of Sydney and 64 km north-west of Hillston.

Black box and lignum along the watercourses of Willandra National Park break up its vast grass and saltbrush plains. Emus, kangaroos and water birds visit its tranquil billabongs.

The Willandra billabong that “flows backwards” meanders through the old Willandra Station with its dilapidated homestead and willow-lined lagoon.

Willandra offers an insight into Australia's pastoral history. Look around the homestead, surrounded by gardens that were once the crowning glory of Willandra Station, or visit the shearing shed, ram shed and other historic buildings.

You can camp near the homestead or experience history for yourself by staying in the cottage or men's quarters.

To find out more about Willandra National Park, including how to get there, walks and activities, visit the Office of Environment & Heritage website.
