Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife funds acquired the 107,241 hectare property for Yathong Nature Reserve.

It is the major release area for captive bred Mallee Fowl, and is a safe haven for many other species of Australian native animals and plants.

The UNESCO has included Yathong Nature Reserve in its list of international biosphere reserves.

Biosphere reserves promote sustainable development based on solid scientific research and local community efforts. These sites aim to reconcile the conservation of natural and cultural diversity and economic and social development. Biosphere reserves are internationally considered as sites of excellence where optimal human activity and nature management practices are demonstrated.

Thanks to the Foundation, Yathong Nature Reserve will be protected in perpetuity.

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife is the only organisation in Australia whose philanthropy is an investment in our public estate, for all to enjoy.
