Maroota Historic Site is near Wiseman's Ferry, about 60 kms north of Sydney. Created in October 1983, it covers 32 hectares.

Maroota Historic Site protects one of the most significant Aboriginal rock carvings in Australia. It contains over 60 engravings, 20 grinding grooves and the unique engraving of a sailing ship with a figure which is probably that of a European woman.

Devils Rock in Maroota Historic Site is on the Register of the National Estate for its Aboriginal art.

Access to Maroota Historic Site is restricted to Aboriginal people and approved educational groups to protect the Aboriginal engravings.

Laughtondale Road forms one boundary of the site, separating it from Marramarra National Park. On other sides it adjoins Crown land and private property.

To learn more about Maroota Historic Site or to contact the park office regarding access, visit the Office of Environment & Heritage website.
